Diagnostic Neuroimaging

John Chen is a highly accomplished radiologist and neuroradiologist, currently serving as the Director of Imaging Clinical Trials in the Division of Neuroradiology, as well as the Director of the Institute for Innovation in Imaging in the Department of Radiology. In addition, he holds the position of Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chen has a wealth of education and experience, having earned his MD and PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois, and completing his radiology residency and neuroradiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

He has been recognized for his work with several awards, including the Mass General Wyman Award, RSNA and Dana Foundation Awards, and an NIH K08 award. His current research, which focuses on neuroinflammation and the roles of molecular pathways and innate immune processes related to microglia in multiple sclerosis, is supported by two NIH R01 and an R21 grants. Dr. Chen's lab uses innovative molecular imaging technologies, targeted molecular treatments, advanced experimental models, and human trials to advance the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases by developing novel imaging and treatment strategies.
