Elias Pavlopoulos, PhD
Neuroscience and Neurodegeneration
Elias Pavlopoulos is an experienced drug developer in ALS, FTD, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and the molecular mechanisms underlying learning, memory, and human cognitive aging.
Besides Ilios, Elias is currently a Scientific Advisor for Life Sciences at FORTH management in New York. He also serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Tessara Therapeutics and ResQ biotech, and he is a member of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation Grant Reviewing Committee.
Prior to joining FORTH, Elias was an Associate Director of R&D and Neuroscience at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Since he joined the company in 2017, Elias led neurodegenerative disease programs, and the last three years the development of human microphysiological systems to advance drug development and discovery. Prior to joining Regeneron, he served as a Senior Scientist at Acorda Therapeutics, Inc., an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University in the laboratory of Eric Kandel, and a postdoctoral fellow at Texas A&M University.
He graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Crete and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB-FORTH).
