Acting Head of Drug Discovery

Amy Elder is a highly experienced drug discovery and development expert with a strong background in medicinal chemistry in the area of inflammation, oncology and CNS. She currently serves as the Director of Chemistry and Project Manager at Q-State Biosciences, where she works with scientists in the discovery and development of novel therapeutics, including antisense oligonucleotides.


Amy has extensive experience in the biotech industry, having previously worked at Galenea, Millennium Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer Pharmaceutical. At Galenea, she served as Director of Chemistry building the medicinal chemistry and drug discovery capabilities, overseeing the design and synthesis of small molecules for the treatment of neurological disorders. She also played a key role in the collaboration with Otsuka Pharmaceutical identifying candidates for novel therapeutic targets. Prior to Galenea, Amy held a position in medicinal chemistry at Pfizer in the CNS therapeutic area.


Amy holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Throughout her career, she has gained a reputation as a skilled chemist and project manager, with a proven track record of successfully guiding drug candidates from discovery to clinical development. With her deep expertise and leadership skills, she is well-positioned to continue making significant contributions to the field of drug development.
